Line Exercises
When I can not concentrate on my drawings
Lui would make me do line exercises . . .
. . . do circles, curve lines, sharp lines . . .
and then I connect these lines to create a design:
Draw a circle in the middle.
Draw a square around the circle.
Draw lines from the corners of the square to the ends of the paper.
Draw triangles between the lines.
Draw squares on one line.
Draw a circle on one line.
Color the shapes.
And draw curvy lines between the lines.
As you can see I had a hard time drawing the curved lines.
I never had problem drawing curvy lines
but there are days when I had a hard time doing it.
So, instead, I have to make a design using straight lines:
And that was my assignment.
To practice my curved lines
until my next session with Lui.

Doing A Matisse
My exercise today is to do works by artist Henri Matisse.
I have to recognize the basic shapes and draw them.
Then I have to color using colored pencils.
I think I got it right
because Lui said she likes it very much!
And here is my interpretation
of another work of Matisse:

A Slice of Cake
I have to choose the colors that will make my drawing look delicious
and the best ones are pastel colors.
I do not really eat cakes like this
not unless it is sugar-free.
Unlike Lui who can not resist it!

Religious Objects
This is the second time I will draw the cross pendant given to me by a priest whose name I forgot! And the wrist rosary is just from my imagination.

Connect the Dots
This is a fun and challenging exercise.
I have to discover what it is by connecting the dots
that Lui made over my sketchpad.
The next challenge is to use neutral colors
like brown, mocha, beige and chocolate
to make the object look beautiful!
And when Lui asked me to "finish" it
I added rainbow on the side to show real colors
and added more lines to the object:

My First Drawing in 2014!
I am doing a simple drawing exercise using curve lines and circles.
Guess what it is?
A lavender bloom!
And since I keep forgetting my color combinations,
Lui and I would always review the color wheel.
So Lui said I should laminate my color wheel guide drawing
so I can check it any time!
