My Birthday Treat!

Today is my birthday! I am now 46 years old. Two days ago, Lui asked me what I want for my birthday and she helped me draw and paint it: a sugar-free birthday cake, a banana, a mango, a big watermelon, grapes, wintermelons, some balloons, and of course, a surprise gift from people I love!

Sound Painting

This is another "sound painting" exercise. These are the images I see when I hear RJ's (Ramon Jacinto) rock and roll music which is my favorite!

Sound Painting

This is my painting of a classical music playing in the background while I was working. It is a fun exercise to draw what you can hear. Lui guided me by asking what images I see when I was listening to the music. I imagine circles going around with thick textures so I did impasto effect.

Acrylic paint on 20" x 30" white bristol paper.

A Story-Telling Exercise!

This week, Lui made me do some story-telling exercises to see if I can make my own storybook. And here is the story I made:

Once upon a time
there was a bird
an eagle whose name is Friendly Bird.
Friendly Bird is friendly
and he has many friends.
Friendly Bird is looking for Woodpecker
so they can greet Ignacio 'Happy Birthday!'
So Friendly Bird went to the park
and went to Ignacio's room
and even went to Mamita's room
but Woodpecker is not in those places.
Friendly Bird found Woodpecker on the grass!
So finally they both went to Ignacio
to greet him 'Happy Birthday!'
And they lived happily ever after!

And these are some of the draft illustrations for my story.

My Mother's Artwork!

My mother started this artwork two weeks ago. She tried to draw the small but beautiful Lantana flower found in our garden:

And this is Mama's finished work with some help from Cora (her caregiver) and teacher Lui. Mama takes longer to finish a work because she is now in her 80s!
